A total of £9673.32 has been raised by the 10 teams who entered this year’s Swansway Gingerbread Enterprise Challenge.

All money raised will help the Stoke based Gingerbread Centre with its work supporting homeless families in the City and surrounding area, demands on its resources are at an all-time high.

After 9 exciting weeks filled with a number of entrepreneurial fundraising activities, the Swansway Gingerbread Enterprise Challenge has come to an end.
Teams were initially given £50 seed money and an objective to turn it into as much money as possible. They have certainly exceeded expectations with the overall total standing at £9673.72, over £4,000 more than last year’s challenge total of £5081.

Each team has recently attended a presentation event at The Gingerbread Centre to celebrate their hard work and dedication to raising money for the charity, at the event all teams were presented with a framed certificate of participation to keep as a memento.

Winners and runners-up for each of the five categories were also announced.
Top Honours went to Swansway Motor Group’s HR Team who raised a fantastic £2447.95 by taking part in a sponsored cycle.

Chris Belyavin, Fundraiser at the Gingerbread Centre commented

Once again the Swansway Gingerbread Enterprise Challenge has been a huge success, in its
second year, it’s wonderful to see the teams coming up with exciting and innovative ways to
turn that initial £50 into so much more.
This year we’ve seen a range of activities from sponsored walks and cycles, to duck races, and even ice cream sales with help from the local ice cream van manufacturers.
We would like to say a sincere thanks to all the teams who took part and to Swansway
Motor Group for their generous sponsorship and participation.

The final award to be presented was the Innovation award, which was given to the team with the most innovative fundraising activity.
For this award, teams were shortlisted for the award and the winner was voted for by staff at the Gingerbread Centre.

Swansway Motor Group Director David Smyth said

We have been thrilled to once again sponsor and take part in the Swansway Gingerbread
Enterprise Challenge.
This year has succeeded expectations and the teams involved have shown great entrepreneurial spirit, my congratulations go out to everyone who took part and managed to raise £9673.32 for the Gingerbread Centre.
We would like to thank Whitby Morrison, Everybody Gyms and all those who donated to the raffle for their support of the Swansway Teams enterprise endeavours.
It was a great example of members of the local community coming together to raise money for a fantastic charity and from a Swansway perspective, our enterprise endeavours would not have been possible without their support
